Fireplace and Sweeping Services Ltd
The invitation of Fireplace and Sweeping Services Ltd or its agents by the customer to carry out work on their property will be deemed as accepting the terms and conditions as specified below.
Chimney Sweeping PRICES - We offer a fixed price for a ‘standard sweep’ sweeping a single flue chimney of a standard size with easy access. We reserve the right to re-quote if upon arrival its not a ‘standard sweep’ and we will advise you before any work is undertaken. You may decline this quote. If upon sweeping the chimney we then find blockages, birds nest etc. which results in additional work, we have the right to charge an additional fee. We will discuss this with you before continuing the works and you have the right to decline.
Gas Service PRICES - We offer a fixed price for servicing a ‘standard gas service’ (16” inset gas fire). We will quote a price for larger gas fires when making an appointment. If parts are required, we will quote separately for these and the labour to install them. You will be informed of these charges before arranging a further visit, to install the parts and recommission the Gas Fire in line with regulations.
We rely on the information you give us when making the appointment and we reserve the right to re-quote if upon arrival the gas fire is not a standard gas service and we will advise you before any work is undertaken. You may decline this quote.
PARTS - Although every effort will be made to maintain firm prices, orders are accepted on the understanding that prices are subject to alteration before the date of order. The goods shall remain the property of the Fireplace and Sweeping Services Ltd until paid for by the customer.
ACCEPTANCE - Where goods are installed by Fireplace and Sweeping Services Ltd, defects must be notified within 24 hours of completion. The seller cannot be held responsible for indirect damage caused to the customers property during installation however caused.
PAYMENT - Payment is strictly on completion of work by Bank transfer (BACS), cheques, cash, credit or debit card. Late payment will incur interest of 5% per day. Fireplace and Sweeping Services Ltd also reserves the right to add charges and/or interest. If cheques require re-representation or returned by our bank, all charges incurred by Fireplace and Sweeping Services Ltd will be passed on to the customer. This charge will be a recovery of cost only and not charged at an interest rate.
APPOINTMENT - Please do not use the appliance (Gas or Chimney) for 24 hours before our visit.
Weather conditions can affect the flue and therefore we may need to cancel the appointment. If on site we may need to revisit to complete the chimney sweeping or gas service. Please remove any ornaments or furniture from around the fireplace or chimney.
CANCELLATION - Please give us as much notice as possible if you need to cancel the appointment, at least 24 hours. We reserve the right to charge a cancellation fee of 50% of the quoted price, in the event of our chimney sweep travelling to site and the customer not being present at the property.
CONDITION OF PROPERTY - We will not be held responsible for any damage caused by the poor condition of the chimney, chimney pot, cowl, fireplaces and any other part of the chimney. Any known problems should be discussed before work is commenced.
The Chimney Sweep will not be held responsible for any damage caused during sweeping which was unforeseeable or known by the customer and not shared with the Chimney Sweep. We reserve the right to refuse to sweep any unsafe and illegal installations.
CERTIFICATES – Please read Terms and Conditions on the Certificates
We supply a certificate for a Chimney Sweep and Gas Fire Service. You may require these for House Insurance.
The Chimney Sweep Certificate confirms we have passed a brush through the flue and swept as much debris as possible from the chimney.
The Gas Certificate confirms we have serviced the gas fire and recommissioned the gas fire within the Gas Safe Registered regulations.
GAS APPLIANCE - By Law Gas Fires must be installed by a Gas Safe Registered Engineer. It will be necessary to turn off the gas while servicing the gas fires. Billericay Fireplaces shall not be held responsible for any Gas Boilers or other Gas Appliances which will not readily relight. If the gas fire fails the spillage test it will not be possible to commission the gas fire. We reserve the right to condemn any unsafe appliance in line with Gas Safe Registered guidelines.
SOLID FUEL FIRES - By Law Solid Fuel Fires must be installed by a HETAS Registered Engineer.
We carry a low-tier environmental waste license
LAW APPLICABLE - These conditions and the contract shall be subject to and construed in accordance with English law. The contracts (Right of Third Parties) Act 1999 shall not apply to any agreement.
